Description

BLENHEIM SP4416 8/241 Statue approx. 4m S of SW corner of Kitchen Court GV II Statue. Probably late C19/early C20. By the Andreoni studio of Rome. Marble. Finely carved statue of goddess dressing her hair, probably after the antique. Stands on round marble pedestal decorated with swags and moulding. Signed "Studio Andreoni Roma". Probably sited in 1920's as part of Achille Duchenes work for Ninth Duke of Marlborough. Fords pair with Statue approximately 4 metres south of east end of Orangery (q.v.). Included for group value. (Blenheim Park is included in the HBMC Register of Parks and Gardens at Grade I)
