CHASTLETON KITEBROOKEND SP23SW 1/39 Cottage and attached barn approx. 35m NE of Brookend House

Cottage and attached barn. Early C18 with later alterations. Regularly coursed and dressed marlstone rubble; asbestos sheet roof with coped verges to left gable end. Cottage to left with barn, apparently of same build, attached to right. One storey with attic to cottage. Cottage has C19 casement to left and half-glazed door in chamfered Tudor-arched doorway to right; elliptical arch with plank double doors to right of doorway. 3 gabled eaves dormers; integral brick end stack to left. Two 2-light mullion windows to rear with lean-to to left. Barn has wide entrance with C20 sliding doors in centre bay and opposing gabled cart entrance to rear. Triangular and narrow rectangular air vents to gable end. Interior. Inspection of cottage not possible at time of resurvey (August 1987) but noted as having 2 chamfered cross beams to ground floor. Barn has collar and tie beam roof in 3 bays with left truss renewed above tie bean and C20 purlins and rafters. Inserted lofts to left and right bays and stone threshing floor.
