Description

This building, known as Church End, is a house dating from 1720, as indicated by a datestone. It is constructed of limestone ashlar and coursed squared rubble, topped with a Stanesfield-slate roof featuring ashlar and brick gable stacks. The house has a T-plan and stands two storeys tall with an attic.

The front of the house has two windows and a central four-panel door set in a chamfered stone surround, topped with a keyblock and a decorative label. The left bay features two-light stone-mullioned windows with similar labels but without drops, while the right bay has three-light windows with projecting keyblocks and inserted mullions. A carved datestone beneath a straight moulding is inscribed with "M/TA/1720".

The right gable wall, made of rubble, has four small chamfered openings, while the left gable wall, made of ashlar, has aligned mullioned windows with three, three, and two lights, all featuring straight labels. The roof includes gable parapets, and the left gable stack has an ashlar plinth. At the back, the rubble gable wall contains a four-light mullioned window. Most of the windows are fitted with leaded glazing.

Inside, there is an open fireplace with a wooden bressumer and a large corner fireplace surrounded by stone with an angle roll. The building showcases a remarkable combination of sub-medieval forms alongside 18th-century details.
