Description

A row of four cottages dating from around 1800, located on Church End in Swerford. The cottages are constructed from coursed marlstone and limestone rubble, with some ashlar dressings and a concrete roof covered in plain tiles. A brick ridge stack is visible between each pair of cottages, and cables have been fitted with added parapets. Each cottage has a single-unit plan with small rear wings, arranged over two storeys. The front of each cottage features a doorway beneath an arched metal canopy, alongside a three-light casement window, both set within a segmental arch. Two three-light casement windows are positioned at the first floor, each with a wooden lintel. A passageway in the centre of the row is defined by a semi-circular arch constructed from ashlar, with a projecting keyblock. The rear of the cottages displays two single-storey wings with gable parapets, and two further wings that appear to have been raised at some point. The interiors have not been inspected. The row is included on the register for its group value.
