Description

This is a dovecote with an attached outbuilding, located approximately 100 metres north of Filkins Hall. It dates from the late 18th to early 19th century, with later additions. The dovecote is constructed of coursed rubble limestone with dressed quoins, and has a stone slate roof. Originally a square two-story building with gables on each side, it now features a 20th-century glazed wooden door. The south side has an oval gable opening in an ashlar surround, and an altered opening below with 20th-century garage doors. Lean-to extensions are present on either side, one with a two-light barred wooden casement window, the other with garage doors. Both extensions have roofs of Welsh slate. Attached to the rear is an outbuilding with a stone slate roof, a blocked cart entry, and a ventilation slit.
