Description
South Berries Cottage is a two-unit former cottage, later converted into a single house, dating from the mid-to-late 18th century and refurbished in the 20th century. The construction utilizes coursed rubble limestone, with a stone slate roof to the front and artificial stone slate to the rear. Chimneys are of rubble stone positioned between the left bays, and brick chimneys are located centrally and to the right. The building comprises one storey and an attic, and has four bays. Windows are 20th-century wooden casements; the ground floor features 2-light windows in the outer bays, and 3-light windows in the central section, all with old stop-chamfered wooden lintels. The attic has three gabled eaves-line dormers, with 2-light casements and a skylight to the left. There are three 20th-century doors: two to the left are barred and glazed, and the right-hand door is a boarded door with a 20th-century gabled hood. The building is included on the list for its group value.
