Description

Pear Tree Cottage is a house dated 1821, as indicated by a tablet in the gable end. It is constructed of coursed rubble limestone with dressed quoins, and has a stone slate roof with coped gables and two rendered ridge chimneys. The house is two storeys and an attic, with two bays. The windows are old wooden casements with single narrow horizontal glazing bars, set within segmental stone arches and dressed stone jambs. The gable end facing the road has a three-light casement window on both the ground and first floors, and a two-light casement window in the attic. The far bay has similar three-light windows in its return elevation. A catslide extension is present on the right return, containing a four-panelled door and a two-light casement window. This extension extends to the rear of the main block.
