Description

Peartree Farmhouse is likely of mid-17th century origin, with substantial raising and alterations dated 1683, as indicated by a tablet below a central dormer. A later 18th-19th century wing extends to the rear. The farmhouse is constructed of coursed rubble limestone, with dressed quoins, and has a stone slate roof. Chimneys of rubble stone are situated to the left and between the right-hand bays. It is two storeys and an attic, with three bays. The windows are stone mullion windows with recessed chamfers and Tudor hood moulds, featuring single horizontal metal glazing bars. Most ground and first-floor windows have three lights, though the ground floor of the left bay has a four-light window. The attic has similar two-light casements, without hoodmoulds, set within hipped dormers. The old board front door, located to the right of the centre window, has a chamfered stone surround with an open pediment hood composed of moulded stone, supported by shaped stone scroll brackets. A square stone tablet with a sundial is positioned centrally above the first-floor window. The raised walling exhibits round ends of metal tie-bars.
