13/230 Dovecote, in former Park Farm Yard 4.6.52

II*

Large circular dovecot. Reputed to be medieval, possibly C16. Rubble stone with conical stone slate roof and octagonal small glazed lantern. Narrow flush stone doorway on south side with original or very old plank door with strap hinges and small inserted light, with 2-light stone mullion above. Interior has very large coursed stone central column. Both column and internal face of wall are completely patterned by pierced dove holes. Small C19 farm building on west side in random coursed rubble with stone slate roof, single storey and loft, cambered head doorway and window on south side, loft door and fanlight to west.
