Description
The stable block, located approximately 15 meters east of Pudlicote House, dates from around 1808 and is now partly used as domestic accommodation. It is constructed from squared and coursed limestone with ashlar dressings and features a hipped slate roof. The building has two storeys and is arranged in a 1:1:1 bay configuration, with a central gabled break.
The windows are small-paned wooden casements, with two lights on the first floor and three lights on the ground floor, all featuring flush stone lintels and stone cills. There is a central first-floor round-arched former loft opening, which now has a two-light casement, and a blind recessed circular panel in the apex of the gable above. The central entrance is chamfered and round-arched, leading to a boarded door for the tack room set back behind it, with additional boarded doors on both the left and right sides. The shaped purlin ends are visible at the central gable.
Inside, there are loose boxes to the left and right of the entrance. A 20th-century link connects the first floor to the adjacent coach house. This stable block is one of a pair surrounding a stable yard to the east of Pudlicote House.
