Description

CHILSON PUDLICOTE LANE SP32SW (South-west side) 2/9 Stable block approx. 15m E of Pudlicote House

GV II

Stable block, now partly domestic accommodation. Circa 1808. Squared and coursed limestone with ashlar dressings. Hipped slate roof. Two storeys. 1:1:1 bays, with central gabled break. Small-paned wooden casements, 2-light to first floor and 3-light to ground floor, with flush stone lintels and stone cills. Central first-floor round-arched former loft opening (see hook above), now 2-light casement. Blind recessed circular panel in apex of gable above. Central chamfered round-arched entrance; boarded door to tack room set back behind and boarded doors to left- and right-hand sides. Shaped purlin ends to central gable. Interior with loose boxes to left and right of entrance. C20 first-floor link to adjacent coach house (q.v.). This block is one of a pair around a stableyard to the east of Pudlicote House (q.v.).
