Description
The stable block, located immediately north of The Dower House, dates from around 1830 and was undergoing extensive reconstruction during the last survey in August 1987. It is built of roughly coursed limestone rubble and features an artificial stone slate roof that has replaced the original stone slates. The roof is hipped at the north-west end of the north-east range, creating an L-plan structure. The building is 1½ storeys high, with the stable flanked by coach houses that have lofts above. The interior has been altered in the late 19th century and late 20th century.
The front elevation, facing south-east, has gabled ends with cross roofs that are higher than the main roof. Each gable features a round-headed opening, with a window to the left and a door to the right, positioned above side doorways that are fitted with double-leaf doors. There is a boarded door at the center, flanked by two-light casement windows with glazing bars, similar to those found at The Dower House. This stable block is included for its group value with The Dower House.
