Description

A stable block and coach house dating to approximately 1830, situated approximately 15 metres west of Old Rectory Cottage. The building is constructed of roughly coursed slate-stone rubble with granite dressings, and has a slate roof with projecting purlin-ends. It is arranged in a cruciform plan, with a central gable projecting slightly and lower flanking wings. The single-storey block has a hay-loft within the gable. A round-headed arch, constructed of wedged slate-stone voussoirs with a granite keystone, is prominent on the central gable. Behind this arch are four boarded doors, with a central boarded door leading to the hayloft. Plush panelled doors with segmental-headed rectangular barred overlights, set either side of the arch, lead to the stables. The lower wings feature multi-paned wooden mullioned and transomed windows, each with wedged voussoirs and keystones to the segmental heads. Two similar infilled openings are present on each floor of the rear gable. Internally, the stable partitions have been removed.
