Description
The Shop is a house that has been converted into a shop and two cottages. It likely dates from the 17th century, with later additions and alterations. The building is constructed of roughcast slate-stone and cob, with a slate-hung front and an asbestos sheet roof that is hipped to the right and has slates on the rear. The main structure has a four-unit through-passage plan, with a short range at the rear on the right, creating a basic L-shape. There is a full-length, two-storey lean-to at the back of the main range.
The building stands two storeys high and features four scattered 19th-century casement windows just below the eaves, along with similar small windows on the ground floor. There is one window on either side of a four-panel door that leads into the through-passage on the left, and two boarded doors in the centre and right, all of which have lean-to hoods. The left side has a stepped external end stack, while the far right has a ridge stack, both of which are rendered.
Inside, the through passage includes a plank and muntin screen on the left and a former external doorway at the rear that now leads to the lean-to. The left room has roughly carved joists.
