Description
This outbuilding, located 5 meters southwest of Number 56 in Great Tew, dates from the early 18th century, with possible earlier elements. It is constructed of coursed squared marlstone and features a Stonesfield-slate roof with a limestone ashlar stack. The building is a single unit with two storeys. The front has a plank door on the right, set in a chamfered surround with a projecting keyblock. A stone staircase leads to a first-floor entrance in the right gable wall. To the left, there is a small outshut with another doorway that also has a keyblock. The rear of the building includes a leaded three-light casement window above a two-light stone-mullioned window with a label. The gables are topped with parapets, and there is a 19th-century stack on the left with a moulded cap. Although the interior was not inspected, there are indications that the building was originally a single-storey structure from the 17th century.
