Description
31 The Avenue is a house built around 1830, possibly designed by Thomas Rickman or Thomas Fulljames. It is constructed of marlstone ashlar and features a thatched roof with a limestone-ashlar chimney stack. The house has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys tall. The right bay of the front, which has two windows, projects slightly and includes a gable with a square recess. The stone-mullioned windows, which have two and three lights, feature 17th-century style labels and lattice glazing. The entrance is located in the right return wall and includes a ribbed door set within a shallow ashlar porch, topped by a chamfered basket arch. At the rear, there is an added outshut with mullioned windows that have lozenge stops. The steeply-pitched roof has a chimney stack on the left gable. The interior has not been inspected.
