Description
No. 24 The Green is a 17th-century house located in Great Tew. It is built from coursed squared marlstone and features roofs made of Stanesfield slate and plain tiles, along with ashlar stacks. The house has an L-shaped plan and stands two storeys high. The front facade has a regular arrangement of two windows and a doorway with a wooden canopy positioned to the left of center. This doorway is flanked by three-light casement windows set in moulded stone surrounds with labels. On the first floor, there are two three-light stone-mullioned windows, also with labels. All windows are fitted with lattice glazing, and the gables are topped with parapets. A central stack from the 19th century has a plinth and a moulded cap. There is a tiled rear wing in a 17th-century style, which may have been added later. Inside, the house features a large inglenook fireplace with a chamfered bressumer and a chamfered and stopped beam. It was formerly designed with a through passage leading to the rear wing.
