Description

The building comprises a late 17th and early 18th century farmhouse and barn, with the barn remodelled in the 19th century and converted into a school in the late 20th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble with marlstone-ashlar quoins and wooden lintels, with thatch and Stonesfield-slate roofing and a brick gable stack. The barn features central opposed doors with 19th-century brick relieving arches, and inserted 20th-century casement windows. A single-row dovecote is located just below the eaves to the right of the doors. The end walls of the barn have triangular ventilation openings. The thatched cottage, built onto the right gable wall of the barn, has a plank door in the angle below a two-light casement, and three-light casements to the right. The gable wall of the cottage has a parapet and a three-light casement, with further small casements and a plank door at the rear. The cottage interior exhibits heavy chamfered beams, while the barn retains a 19th-century queen-post roof.
