Description
This property comprises two cottages located in Lawrence Lane, Burford and Upton Lawrence. Dating from the 16th or early 17th century, the building was altered in part. It is constructed of freestone with a stone slate roof, featuring coped verges and pyramidal finials. Large end stacks are visible, with the right-hand stack being ashlar. The building is two storeys high and originally accommodated two windows to each side. Number 1 was converted around 1800 to include glazing bar sashes with timber lintels, alongside a six-panel door, with the upper two panels glazed, situated to the left of centre. Number 2 retains rebated hollow chamfer mullion windows with drips; a three-light window is on the first floor, and a four-light window on the ground floor. A Tudor arch doorway, complete with panelled spandrels and a drip, is positioned to the left of centre and leads to a ledged door. The interior of Number 2 features a large Tudor-arched fireplace with panelled spandrels, and the ground floor level is notably elevated.
