Description

This property comprises a pair of cottages, likely dating to the 17th century, and subsequently united. One entry describes the property as a house, altered and potentially dating to the 16th century. The frontages are stuccoed, with some brick and cobble elements evident. The roofs are predominantly tiled, with a section of Horsham stone slates on the south side of number 28. Number 28 features a tall brick chimney.

Number 28 has two windows. The windows are a mix of casement and sash styles. The roofline includes a catslide extension over the doorway. Number 30 has one window per floor, with a fixed, multi-paned window on the ground floor set within a segmental-arched surround. Each cottage has a modern, part-glazed door, with number 28’s door positioned under the catslide roof.

Internally, number 28 displays moulded beams on the ground floor, a moulded Tudor-arched wooden doorway, and a large fireplace (the stack of which has been removed above roof level). Further features include down braces in the party wall and a simple crown post roof. A wall plate is exposed above the first-floor window at the rear of number 30.

These cottages are situated within a group that includes numbers 2 to 16 (even), 20 to 32 (even) along High Street.
