Description

Eynsham Hall features a wall that encloses part of the forecourt, located approximately 60 meters north-northwest of the porch. This wall was built between 1904 and 1908 by Sir Ernest George. It is made of squared and coursed grey limestone, with ruddy-coloured limestone used for the balustrade and detailing. The wall is L-shaped and includes a Jacobean-style balustrade with plain ashlar piers topped by lead urns. There is a blocked ashlar pier at the front entry, which has a moulded plinth and entablature, along with a bowl-shaped finial that features acanthus-leaf carving and is topped by an openwork pyramidal finial. A similar ashlar pier with an identical finial is present at the side entry. This wall is included for its group value.
