Description
Perrotts Hill Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, with a late 17th or early 18th century block to the right and a mid-18th century block to the left. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble and features a gabled stone slate roof, with 19th century brick stacks at the ends and a large stone lateral stack at the rear of the left block. The farmhouse has a two-unit plan that has been extended to a four-unit plan.
The central block is two stories high and has a three-window range. It is supported by late 17th century carved brackets that hold a pediment hood over a 19th century four-panel door, which is set in a beaded heavy pegged frame. There are timber lintels above a late 17th or early 18th century wood-mullioned and transomed cross window, and a 19th century two-light wood-mullioned window to the left. The taller two-story one-window ranges on either side feature a timber lintel above a mid-18th century nine-pane sash on the left, and a late 18th century gabled hood over a 19th century half-glazed door on the right, along with timber lintels over 19th and 20th century two-light casements.
There is a later 18th century two-story service wing. Inside, the farmhouse has chamfered beams throughout and is noted for its collar-truss roofs with butt purlins. The central block includes a fine late 17th century oak-panelled room to the left, a 17th century stop-chamfered doorframe at the rear of the passage, and late 17th century open-well stairs with turned balusters set on a closed string, along with a cupboard beneath featuring a panelled door. The left block has reset 17th century panelling on the ground floor and is noted for having a fine early to mid-18th century panelled room on the first floor.
