Description
Higher Westfield Farm is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with later additions from the 17th and 18th centuries. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble and features a two-tile roof with stone ridge and end stacks. The building has a three-unit plan, is two storeys high with an attic, and has a three-window range. There are timber lintels over 19th-century two- and three-light casements, as well as a panelled and glazed door located to the centre-right. The farmhouse includes three gabled roof dormers and buttresses at the gable ends. At the rear, there is a late 18th-century gabled range with additional 19th-century casements, along with a 20th-century lean-to.
Inside, the 17th-century range features two open fireplaces with timber bressumers; one fireplace has jewel and arrowhead chamfer-stops, while the other has bar stops. The interior also includes chamfered beams and stone-flagged floors, as well as one 18th-century plank door with its original decorative hinge.
