Description
11 (Vine Cottage) and 12, Church Walk are two houses located on the east side of Church Walk. The buildings date from the early 18th century, with possible earlier origins on the right side, and the left house is from the early 19th century. The early 18th-century section is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features gabled roofs made of stone slate and artificial stone slate, with a ridge stack made of stone finished in brick. The houses have a three-unit plan and are two storeys tall, with a three-window range. There are 20th-century hipped porches over two 20th-century doors, and timber lintels above late 19th-century and 20th-century casements. The early 19th-century house to the left, dating around 1820, is also made of limestone rubble and has a gabled Welsh slate roof with a brick end stack. This house is one storey with an attic and has a one-bay range. It features timber lintels over a 20th-century door and casements, as well as similar half-dormer casements. Inside the early 18th-century house, there are noted stop-chamfered beams.
