Description
The range of stables, located 100 meters south of Broadwell Manor, is a Grade II listed building. The stables consist of two sections: the left part is from the early 19th century, while the right part dates to the mid-19th century. They are constructed from coursed rubble limestone with semi-dressed quoins. The early 19th-century section is lower and features a stone slate roof. It has two bays, each with a small window that has a segmental head made of dressed stone and sliding slatted shutters. The left bay includes a stable door with a wooden lintel, while the right bay has an altered vehicle entry.
Inside, there is a cobbled floor with a drain and a feeding trough, along with a double purlin roof supported by trusses with raking struts and collars. This section also contains two stallion boxes. The mid-19th-century part to the right has a Welsh slate roof and a loft. The side facing the yard features stable windows flanking a central entry that has been widened for vehicle access, along with a small off-centre loft door at eaves level, topped with a gable. The right end has stone steps leading up to the loft door and a high vent slit. This building is included for its group value.
