Description
The building is a stable located approximately 30 meters north of Barnwell Manor. It likely dates back to the 17th century but was reconstructed in the mid to late 19th century. The structure is made of squared coursed limestone with ashlar dressings and features a Collyweston slate roof.
This rectangular range of stables is a single storey with an attic and has a carriage arch on the far right. The main front, facing south, consists of three bays. The central and left bays each contain pairs of 19th-century three-light stone mullion windows. The carriage arch to the right has a moulded stone surround. There are three large gabled eaves dormers with tall 19th-century four-light stone mullion windows that include king mullions, transoms, and hood moulds. A moulded string course runs below the cills of the attic windows, and the gable ends feature ashlar parapets, kneelers, and finials. On the left gable, there is a 4-light stone mullion window with a king mullion and hood moulds. The rear elevation has various 19th-century openings. The interior has not been inspected. This building is included for its group value.
