Description
The Midland Bank, built in 1888, is a bank located in Witney Market Square. It features a limestone ashlar front with a brick rear and a gabled 20th-century tile roof, complete with moulded stone ashlar ridge and end stacks. Designed in the Jacobethan style, the building is two stories tall with an attic and presents a symmetrical five-window range. To the right of the center, there are panelled double-leaf doors set in an ovolo-moulded architrave. The windows are stone-mullioned and transomed, featuring ovolo-moulded 2-light designs. The building has string courses and similar attic windows beneath three Dutch gables on the upper floor. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included for its group value.
