Description

WITNEY MARKET SQUARE SP3509N (West side) 10/196 No.30 (Barclays Bank) 06/02/70 (Formerly listed as No.30) GV II

Town house, now bank, c.1830/40. Stuccoed over limestone rubble: raised chamfered quoins and stone dressings. Gabled Welsh-slate roof; brick end stacks. 3 storeys; symmetrical 4-window range. Bracketed broken pediment above double-leaf panelled doors with decorative fanlight set in semi-circular arched stone architrave in left bay. Horned 6-pane sashes set in moulded semi-circular arched architraves to right of door; first-floor 6-pane sashes and shorter second-floor sashes set in moulded stone architraves. Raised upper storey band; moulded stone cornice beneath parapet. Interior and rear not inspected but likely to be of interest.
