Description

A barn and stable range, dating from the 18th century, stands approximately 10 metres south east of Pomfret Castle. The building is constructed of coursed squared limestone and marlstone, with squared marlstone quoins, and features plain-tile and corrugated-plastic roofing. The barn section, to the left, has a central pair of opposed doors and a tiled roof. To the right is a stable block, distinguished by a stable door flanked by two small windows, and two plank loft doors. The right-hand gable has a parapet. Inside the barn, the trusses include collars, ties, and raking struts, although the remaining timbers are from the 20th century. A lower stone and brick farmbuilding projects from the rear.
