Description
This barn, located approximately 40 meters northeast of Back House Farmhouse, dates from the late 18th century. It features a timber frame with weatherboard cladding set on a plinth made of coursed rubble limestone, topped with a 20th-century corrugated iron roof. Originally, the barn had a single aisle at the rear, but this has been replaced by a 20th-century concrete and metal bin shed, which is not of special architectural interest. The structure consists of five bays, with a central cart entry. The frame includes jowled main posts, waved braces to the tie beams, and mortices indicating where former aisle braces were located. It also has long diagonal or slightly curved wall braces, collar and tie-beam trusses, and a double butt purlin roof. The barn is included for its group value.
