Description

Wick Hall is a large barn that has been partly converted into a house and now serves as a store. It dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with some mid-19th century alterations. The structure is built of coursed limestone rubble, featuring an early 19th century outshut to the left of the midstrey, which has light timber framing with brick infill and a half-hipped old tile roof. The barn has a 7-bay plan with a continuous rear outshut and includes two threshing floors. There is a gabled midstrey in the third bay from the left and a later midstrey, likely from the 19th century, in the third bay from the right. The center features a 3-bay cartshed from the 19th century, with an early 19th century implement shed to the left. The building has splayed ventilation slits. Wick Cottage, which is inserted into the two right bays, has segmental arches over 19th century two-light leaded casements and a 20th century door with a porch, along with an inserted brick stack to the left. The interior of the barn features a 7-bay queen-post roof with braced aisle posts at the rear, but the interior of Wick Cottage has not been inspected.
