Description

Sandhill Farmhouse is a 18th-century rebuilding of an earlier house, with a gabled rubble stone section still visible at the rear. The main part of the farmhouse, rebuilt in the 18th century, is constructed of brick and features a gabled machine-tiled roof with two brick stacks. There is a 19th-century wing that is made of coursed and squared rubble stone, complete with stone dressings and a gabled stone-tiled roof, which has two tall stone stacks with paired polygonal chimneys. Together, these sections create a T-shaped plan.

The 18th-century range has two storeys and seven bays, featuring 2-light, 8-pane casements on the upper floor and 2-light, 3-pane casements on the lower floor. The 19th-century addition also has two storeys and an attic, with three bays. The west front of the farmhouse showcases three-light cross-mullion windows with small panes under dripstones, flanking a central projecting gabled bay. This bay contains a plank and batten door set beneath a Tudor arch, and above the first-floor window, there is a datestone and coat of arms. The gable matches two others at the north and south ends and includes kneelers and a central finial. The south end features a projecting bay window on the ground floor. The west front is partially covered by a thick growth of Virginia creeper.
