Description

Cuckoo Bush Farmhouse is a mid-18th century farmhouse constructed from rubble stone, featuring a stone slate roof. The building has a mid-19th century front range made of ashlar with a slate roof. It is two storeys tall and has an L-plan layout. The front of the farmhouse showcases ornate end stacks, coped gables, and a three-window arrangement of sash windows set in raised surrounds. The first-floor windows have bracketed sills, while the ground-floor windows feature moulded cornices. The structure has a raised plinth, angle pilasters, and moulded stone eaves. The central door is topped with an overlight and is framed by a raised surround with a cornice supported by console brackets.

The original L-plan house is partially obscured by the 19th-century addition but retains end stacks and a single-window range of mullion windows at the rear. The rear wing includes ridge and end stacks, a hipped dormer, and cyma-moulded flush mullion windows. There is one three-light window above, a door in a moulded surround, and two two-light windows with dripstones on the ground floor. The rear features two similar three-light windows on the first floor and one with a dripstone on the ground floor. Inside, there is a plain Tudor-arched fireplace located at the inner end of the rear wing.
