Description

Manian Fawr is an early 18th century farmhouse, with possibly earlier origins, that has been altered over time. The building is constructed of roughcast rubble stone and features a small slate roof, forming an L-shape with three stone end stacks. It is one and a half storeys tall and has a double-fronted design, with a 12-pane sash window in a stucco surround on each side of a central door, which is set within a gabled porch added in 1990. The door is a six-panel type with an overlight above it. There are two gabled eaves dormers that are not aligned, featuring 20th century plate glass and slate sills. The farmhouse has a raised stucco plinth and angle strips. On the west end wall, there is a similar 12-pane sash window on the ground floor and a small upper window.

The rear range includes a door at the angle and a 20th century four-pane window to the left, along with a 20th century porch. The upper floor features a small 12-pane sash window to the right, which breaks the eaves, and a very small pair of casement windows to the left, located under the eaves.

Inside, the two front rooms have heavy beams, with the beams in the south room encased and the room panelled in late 19th century boarding. The rear wing contains a narrow dog-leg staircase, smaller ceiling beams, and a large end fireplace, with its lintel replaced in iron following fire damage. The main range boasts a five-bay pegged oak roof with heavy collar trusses, while the rear range features two heavy scarfed crucks and one raised cruck blade on the north side, with the principal timbers on the south side having been replaced.
