Description
Penrhyn Castle is a former coastguard station built around 1850. It features whitewashed stucco with slate hipped roofs and brick chimney stacks. The building is two storeys high. The east front, which faces the sea, has a prominent canted two-storey bay with three large 12-pane sash windows on the ground floor and three smaller 12-pane sash windows above. To the right, there is a north side lean-to that has a 12-pane sash window on each floor in its east wall, with the lower window previously serving as a door. There is a red brick chimney stack on the north roof slope. On the south side, there is a large sash window on the ground floor to the right and a smaller sash window on the first floor to the left. There is a slight projection at the left end with a similar window on each floor, all beneath a hipped roof with a brick stack on the west side. The west entrance front features a gabled porch with stucco, an arched doorway, and a slate roof, along with a 12-pane sash window above. The end of the north side lean-to on the left also has a 12-pane sash window on each floor.
