Description

Hill Cottage is a house dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, located in Lacock Reybridge. The original core of the house is a 17th-century timber-frame construction with red brick facing, built upon a rubble stone base. It has a roof covered in Bridgwater tiles, and a south end stack. A 18th-century addition, constructed of rubble stone with a roof of stone slates and a south end stack, was added to the south end. The original 17th-century range is characterised by square framing and angle bracing, with a two-window facade featuring triple casement windows; the upper windows are located within gabled dormers. The 18th-century addition has a single-room plan and includes a door within a chamfered surround, and a two-light cyma-moulded flush mullion window above the door. There are two similar windows on the south end wall. Inside the original 17th-century range is an oak plank door in the south end wall, and a fireplace which is screened from the door by an 18th-century settle.
