Description

The Lays Farmhouse is an 18th-century farmhouse constructed of brick with sandstone rubble gables. It features a tiled valley roof and brick stacks with cylindrical attached shafts on the south side and west gables. The building has a rectangular plan with double ranges aligned east to west and stands two storeys high with attics.

The north elevation consists of three bays, showcasing segmentally-headed tripartite sashes, except for the door area where there is a single sash. There are brick strings between the floors and beneath a deep margin above the first-floor window. The central panelled door is adorned with a bracketed open pediment and a transom light above it. Additionally, there are 18th-century casements in the first floor and attics of the east gable.
