Description

Swan House is a house, likely dating from the 17th or early 18th century, with remodelling and an extension added in the early 19th century. It is constructed from sandstone rubble, with a brick extension, and has hipped tiled roofs and brick stacks. The house is three storeys high, with a three-by-two window arrangement. The ground floor has no windows, while the first and top floors each have two-light leaded casement windows. The first-floor windows are located under tiled gablets, and the centre window on the top floor is blind. A ledged door, possibly from the 17th or 18th century, is set into the ground floor and has a hipped tiled canopy supported by two uncut baulks. An extension to the left has two storeys, with a segmental-headed casement window on the ground floor and a gablet window on the first floor, matching those on the main part of the house. The south elevation features an oak-framed opening with diamond-section mullions on the left side of the ground floor.
