Description

92 to 102 Bell Street is an early 19th century facade attached to an early 17th century building. The exterior is finished in stucco and features an entablature at the parapet. The building has a triple span slate roof and consists of two storeys with five large old dormers set behind the parapet. There are eleven sash windows in cased frames, which are not arranged formally, with all but one window featuring glazing bars. The ground floor windows are adorned with moulded architraves. The southern end of the building includes three former shop windows of a traditional style, two square bays, and one flat window under a bracketed cornice, all with glazing bars. There are four doors, each with pilasters and entablatures, leading to six-panelled doors. At the rear, earlier architectural features can be seen, including some timber framing and a 17th century gable. A flint wall is present at No 102, which faces Bell Lane.

The buildings from Nos 70 to 102, along with the structure at the rear of Nos 70 and 72, are part of a group that includes Nos 93 and 95 opposite, as well as Nos 1 to 11 (odd) and 15 to 25 (odd) Denmark House, Elm House, Ruperts Elm, Ruperts Guard, White House, the Obelisk, and No 30 Northfield End, along with Tarry's Cottage, Bell Cottage, and the Flat on Rupert's Lane.
