Description

Old Bell House dates from the 18th and early 19th centuries. It is a stucco-fronted building with a flat, bracketed wooden eaves cornice and a slate roof. The building is three storeys high with four windows, all sash windows with glazing bars. The ground floor windows have three lights, while the first floor windows are Venetian windows. A projecting porch supported by Doric columns, featuring a moulded hood, panelled reveals and an architrave surround, provides access via a six-panel door. An additional entrance is located on the northern side.

Old Bell House is part of a group that includes numbers 1 to 11 (odd) and 15 to 25 (odd) along with Denmark House, Elm House, Rupert’s Elm, Rupert’s Guard, the White House, the Obelisk and number 30; numbers 93 and 95; numbers 70 to 102 (even); the building at the rear of number 70 Bell Street; and Tarry’s Cottage, Bell Cottage and the flat on Rupert's Lane.
