Description
This is an early 18th century pair of houses located on Northfield End. The houses are constructed of silver-grey brick with red brick quoins and window surrounds. They have a bracketed wooden eaves cornice and a half-hipped roof covered in old tiles. The houses are two storeys high with dormers, and originally had six windows per front elevation; the first-floor windows were originally arched and featured sash windows from which the glazing bars have been removed. There are two doors, each with a moulded architrave and a flat, bracketed hood. The doors are six-panelled, with the top two panels now glazed.
The properties at Nos 1 and 3 form a group with Nos 93 and 95, Nos 70 to 102 (even), the building at the rear of No 70 Bell Street, Tarrys Cottage, Bell Cottage, a flat on Ruperts Lane, plus Denmark House, Elm House, Ruperts Elm, Ruperts Guard, White House, and the Obelisk, and No 30.
