Description
Nos 82 and 84 on Bell Street are 17th-century symmetrical houses featuring silver grey brick walls with red brick dressings. The buildings have window arches and small window aprons at the first floor, along with a bracketed cornice and an old tiled roof. They are two storeys tall with an attic and have five windows. The first floor has old casement windows and a late 18th-century central bay window. The ground floor includes sash windows with glazing bars, with the central window consisting of three lights. There is a reproduction bow window on the north side. The houses have six-panelled doors, with the top two panels of the door for No 84 now glazed. Moulded architraves and curved, moulded pediments are present above the doors.
These houses are part of a group that includes Nos 70 to 102 (even), the building at the rear of Nos 70 and 72, as well as Nos 93 and 95 opposite. They are also grouped with Nos 1 to 11 (odd), Nos 15 to 25 (odd), Denmark House, Elm House, Ruperts Elm, Ruperts Guard, White House, the Obelisk, No 30 Northfield End, and Tarry's Cottage, Bell Cottage, and the Flat on Rupert's Lane.
