Description
The Studio House, located at 72 Bell Street, is a late 18th-century building constructed of red brick with silver grey headers. The building features three storeys and five windows, most of which are sash windows with glazing bars. A carriageway arch leads to No 70, which has a later one-bay extension above the arch that matches the original style. The former shop front has been replaced with a sash window and a reproduction door that matches the small arched door of No 72. This door has a pilaster surround, ornamental caps featuring a pair of swans and an urn, and an open moulded pediment. The entrance includes a six-panelled door and a fanlight.
The Studio House is part of a group of buildings that includes Nos 70 to 102 (even) and the building at the rear of Nos 70 and 72. This group is connected with Nos 93 and 95 opposite, as well as Nos 1 to 11 (odd) and 15 to 25 (odd), Denmark House, Elm House, Ruperts Elm, Ruperts Guard, White House, the Obelisk, and No 30, Northfield End, along with Tarry's Cottage, Bell Cottage, and the Flat on Rupert's Lane.
