Description

Apple Tree Cottage is a house dating from the mid-17th century, with 18th-century additions on both the left and right sides. The building features render, likely over timber-framing on the ground floor and first floor on the left and right, while the centre has large timber-framing with rendered infill. The roof is covered with old plain tiles and is half-hipped in the centre portion, with a brick ridge stack located to the right of the centre.

The house has two storeys and an attic, arranged in a three-window range. There is a plank door with an overlight to the right of centre, and double plank doors to the left. The windows include 6-pane sashes with architrave surrounds on the centre and right, and a jettied first floor in the centre. There are also 6-pane sashes on the first floor left and right, and a 3-light casement window in the centre supported by shaped brackets. The cottage features two gabled dormers and is noted for having a portion of a cruck truss in the attic on the right.
