Description
This is a mid-17th century house, originally a single dwelling, now divided into two separate homes. It is located on the south side of East Hagbourne Main Road. The lower part of the building is constructed of red brick, while the upper portion is timber-framed with angle braces and painted brick infill. The roof is covered with old plain tiles, and a brick stack rises from the ridge towards the left-hand side. The house likely originally had a two-unit lobby-entry plan. It is two storeys high with an attic, and has a facade divided into four window bays. Doors are positioned to the left and right of the centre. Ground floor windows on the left and right of centre are three-light wooden casements. A single-light wooden window with a trefoil top is on the left-hand side. The first floor windows to the left and right of centre are also three-light wooden casements; a two-light leaded casement sits to the left of centre, and a three-light leaded casement to the right. A cross-gable projects to the right of centre and is tile-hung with bands of V-shaped tiles, featuring a two-light wooden casement. The right-hand return displays a jettied first floor supported by curved brackets. The interior of the building has not been inspected.
