Description
Gate House is a house from the mid-18th century. It has a colourwashed brick and rendered front, with colourwashed flint and brick dressings on the sides. The roof is gabled and covered with old tiles, and there is a brick ridge stack. The building has a two-unit plan and is one storey with an attic, featuring a one-window range. The door and window are from the 20th century, while there is a segmental arch over a 19th-century two-light iron casement window on the first floor. Segmental brick arches are present over the 20th-century door and a two-light leaded casement in the left side wall. Inside, there are 20th-century features, but the original joists in the ceiling remain. At the back, there is a one-storey range that was originally a timber-framed stable, made of flint rubble with brick dressings and an old tile gabled roof. This range has a two-bay queen-post and queen-strut roof with clasped purlins. The building is included for its group value.
