Description
This is a late 16th and early 17th century house and shop, extended in the 17th century and remodelled in the mid-19th century. Originally timber-framed, the front is now rendered, while the rear wing is brick. The roof is covered with old tiles. The building has an L-shape, with a rear right wing. The front elevation has two storeys and a single window. A mid-19th century shop front features a 20th-century door and windows, with a mid-19th century sash window above. The two-storey rear wing, originally timber-framed, was clad in brick in the mid-19th century and includes a left-hand lateral stack and a gabled old tile roof. Inside the front range, the roof is a three-bay queen-post design with clasped purlins and windbraces. The rear wing contains quartered, chamfered spine beams with run-out stops, a quarter-turn staircase, and queen-strut and closed timber trusses.
