Description
Old Bank House is a late 18th-century town house located on Couching Street in Watlington. It is constructed of grey header bond brick, featuring red brick quoins and dressings, and has a gabled old tile roof with brick internal stacks. The building has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys tall with a three-window range.
The entrance features an eared moulded architrave set in a broken-pedimented doorway, which includes a Gothick fanlight and a six-panelled door. There are gauged brick flat arches over paired sash windows that flank central six-pane sashes. The exterior is further enhanced by red brick storey bands.
Inside, the house contains two- and six-panelled doors, a moulded cornice, and a fireplace on the left side. At the rear of the hall, there is a round arch with moulded imposts leading to a dog-leg staircase with a landing, which features turned balusters on an open string.
