Description

26 and 28 Hart Street are two 18th-century buildings featuring a facade made of silver grey brick, accented with red brick quoins and window dressings. The first floor showcases moulded brick strings, heads, and sills above the windows. The buildings have a moulded and bracketed wooden eaves cornice and an old tiled roof. They are two storeys high with gabled dormers, presenting a symmetrical facade that includes two windows and two central doors. Above, there are five sash windows with glazing bars, while the dormers feature early 19th-century casements. The eastern side has an early 19th-century shop window with pilasters and a cornice, and the western side has a reproduction bow window. The central paired doors are topped with a flat hood and consist of six panels, with the top two now glazed. These buildings are part of a group that includes several other notable structures along Hart Street, such as Adam House, the Parish Church of St Mary, and various gates and piers.
