Description
No 20 Hart Street is a building from the 18th century and later, featuring a facade that showcases its timber frame on the west side. The exterior is made of grey brick with red brick window dressings, topped by a steeply pitched tiled roof. The building has two storeys and includes three early 19th-century casement windows with glazing bars. There is also a large shop front that was altered in the late 19th or early 20th century. This building is listed as Grade II for its group value, as it is part of a collection that includes Nos 2 to 8 (even), Nos 14 to 36 (even) including Adam House, and Nos 40 and 44, along with gates and piers at 48 and 50, The Old School House, and the Rectory Garden Wall. This group is further complemented by Nos 5 to 39 (odd), the Drinking Fountain, the Parish Church of St Mary, and the raised pavement at the east end of Hart Street.
