Description
27 Hart Street is an early 18th century facade attached to an earlier building. It features grey and red brick with red window dressings, while the eastern bay is roughcast. The building has an eaves cornice and an old tiled roof, standing two storeys tall with four sash windows, two of which have glazing bars. On the ground floor, the western side has a 19th century shop front that includes an additional side door with a fluted architrave, a panelled door, and reveals, all beneath a cornice with end stops and pilasters. The eastern side features a carriageway arch with timber framing exposed in the side wall. This property is part of a group that includes Nos 5 to 39 (odd), the Drinking Fountain, the Parish Church of St Mary, and the raised pavement at the east end of Hart Street, as well as Nos 2 to 8 (even), Nos 14 to 36 (even) including Adam House, and Nos 40, 44 (including gates and piers), 48, No 50, The Old School House, and the Rectory Garden Wall opposite.
